Until now it has only been possible to download data from a report in Comma Separated List format (csv). Generally this has not caused too many problems since CSV is a standard format and can easily be opened with Excel or Notepad.
However, problems start when the csv is encoded in utf-8 format to support a different character set such as Nordic or Chinese. Excel automatically opens the csv file using the system default encoding and then the content is not displayed correctly for the user. The only way around this issue is to use the Excel data import function and manually set the file origin to utf-8 format.
By downloading the data as a native Excel xls file this problem doesn't occur.
Now, when you select a report in download format you can choose from xls format or csv format.
